The efforts to create a carbon-neutral economy continue.
The Department of Energy announced on Friday that they would be providing $42.3 million to help kick-start a number of new pilot projects for greener American manufacturing. The department noted that in 2019 the global industrial sector created 23% of all greenhouse gas emissions, and hopes that this new funding will help American manufacturing move toward carbon-neutrality by 2050.
“Manufacturing is at the heart of the American economy – providing good-paying jobs and creating the products that we rely on in our everyday lives,” said Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. “With these investments, the Department of Energy is helping reestablish U.S. manufacturing leadership while scaling up the technologies needed to reduce our collective carbon footprint and address climate change.”
